David Harbour has hinted that his working relationship with Millie Bobby Brown is far from over, even after the end of Stranger Things.
The pair appeared together throughout all five seasons of Netflix’s hit series, which concluded earlier this year. Harbour played Hawkins Police Chief Jim Hopper, who became the protective guardian of Brown’s Eleven, a young girl with psychokinetic powers who was raised in a secret government laboratory.
Their bond quickly became one of the show’s emotional cornerstones, creating many of Stranger Things’ most memorable moments. As the series came to a close, fans were left wondering whether the actors would reunite on future projects.
Speaking to Variety, Harbour suggested that more collaborations are already in the works.
“Straight up, Millie and I are working on several…”
The actor stopped himself before revealing any further details, but made it clear that audiences have not seen the last of the duo.
“You’ll see more of me and Millie – 10 years wasn’t enough. There is a special bond there. I love her. She loves me.”
Brown also reflected on the decade-long journey she shared with Harbour, describing how their relationship evolved both on and off screen.
“Obviously I changed so much from Season 1 to Season 5, and David was there through all of it.
“Over time, our relationship became much more collaborative creatively. When you work with someone for that many years, we could really push each other emotionally in scenes. Even though the series has ended, there’s still a lot of gratitude.
“Getting to share that experience with him for so many years is something I’ll always remember and value.”
Harbour also addressed the dramatic ending of Stranger Things season five, which saw Eleven sacrifice herself to save those she loved. While some viewers have speculated that the character could return in the future, the actor suggested her fate had always been part of the story’s direction.
“A lot of people think maybe she’s in Spain or whatever,” the Violent Night star said. “But right from the very beginning of that series – we love this little girl, but you really can’t have a little girl in Hawkins, Indiana, with supernatural powers running around. She just cannot exist.
“Right from the beginning of the series – you gotta kill her. Until Netflix needs to raise their subscription rate. Then – ladies and gentlemen: Eleven, the new series!”
With Stranger Things now behind him, Harbour has a packed schedule ahead. He is set to return for a sequel to Violent Night and will reprise his role as Alexei Shostakov, better known as Red Guardian, in the upcoming Marvel film Avengers: Doomsday.
The actor is also attached to several other projects, including John Rambo, the sixth instalment in the Rambo franchise and a prequel to First Blood. He will additionally star in Evil Genius, inspired by the true-crime documentary of the same name, and is set to lead the adaptation of Paul G. Tremblay’s novel A Head Full of Ghosts. Harbour is also attached to the dark comedy Little One alongside Gaby Hoffman.
Brown, meanwhile, is preparing to return as the title character in a third Enola Holmes film, which is scheduled to arrive on Netflix on 1 July. She will also appear in the upcoming romantic comedy Just Picture It.
Beyond that, Brown is set to lead the television series Prism as Cassie, a woman who can communicate with ghosts and is tasked with uncovering why spirits have suddenly started appearing before people across the world.
