‘Supernatural’ Officially Returns This Week With a New Final Chapter

Fans of Supernatural are about to return to the world of Sam and Dean Winchester, as the franchise prepares to continue its story in comic-book form.

Jensen Ackles has remained busy in the years since Supernatural ended, taking on a number of high-profile roles. His performance as Soldier Boy in Prime Video’s The Boys has brought him renewed attention, and he is set to headline the 2027 spin-off Vought Rising alongside Aya Cash and Mason Dye.

Ackles has also appeared in television projects including Tracker, starring Justin Hartley, and Countdown, starring Eric Dane. However, none of those roles has matched the lasting impact of Dean Winchester, the character he played throughout Supernatural.

The iconic dark fantasy series ran for 15 seasons between 2005 and 2020. Ackles starred alongside Jared Padalecki, who played Sam Winchester, and Misha Collins, who portrayed the angel Castiel. Created by Eric Kripke, the series developed an enormous global fanbase during its decade-and-a-half run.

Although Supernatural came to an emotional conclusion on television, its universe has continued to live on through other stories. Now, fans are getting another chapter featuring the Winchester brothers.

When does the new ‘Supernatural’ comic come out?

Dynamite Entertainment expanded the story beyond the television series with an official 10-issue Supernatural comic-book series. That story is now approaching its conclusion, with Supernatural #10 set to go on sale on August 26, 2026.

The milestone issue will bring the current comic-book saga to an end and could potentially serve as another final chapter for the franchise. Plot details are still being kept largely under wraps, but Dynamite has confirmed that Sam and Dean will reunite to face one final and formidable enemy.

More details and previews of Supernatural #10 are expected to be revealed as the release date approaches.

With the final issue arriving on August 26, fans have an opportunity to revisit the original series while waiting for the new chapter. All 15 seasons of Supernatural are currently available to stream on Prime Video and Peacock.

The series left Netflix at the end of 2025, ending its long run on the streaming service, where it had become one of the platform’s most popular shows.

Kripke has also continued working with several of his Supernatural stars. Jared Padalecki and Misha Collins both appeared in supporting roles during the final season of The Boys, while Jim Beaver had a recurring role under the same alias as his Supernatural character, Bob Singer.

For Supernatural fans, the Winchester brothers’ story is not quite finished yet. The next chapter arrives August 26, when Supernatural #10 officially goes on sale.
