Great News About Wednesday Season 3’s Release Date on Netflix

There’s exciting news for Wednesday fans today—and no, it’s not just that Wednesday Addams is joining Fortnite (though that’s happening too). The real buzz is that Wednesday season 3 will begin filming earlier than anyone expected, after some uncertainty about when production would actually kick off.

In a recent podcast interview with Tommy DiDario, Wednesday star Hunter Doohan, who plays Tyler, revealed that filming will start before the end of 2025. That matches earlier reports hinting at a late November 30 start date, even though more recent updates had suggested production wouldn’t begin until early 2026.

Why is that such good news? Because one of the biggest frustrations with season 2 was just how long it took to start filming—a delay Doohan himself lamented in the interview. This time, the gap is going to be much shorter, which could mean fans won’t have to wait nearly as long for the next chapter.

To put the timeline in perspective, Wednesday season 1 premiered in November 2022. Season 2 didn’t begin filming until May 2024—a year and a half later. Production then stretched out for another year and three months before the season finally debuted in August 2025.

Now, if season 3 starts filming at the end of November 2025, that’s just a three-month gap from when season 2 ended in September 2025. Using the same production pace, that would point to a Wednesday season 3 release around March 2027—about a year and seven months after season 2 began, and roughly a year and a half from now.

That’s a huge improvement over the nearly three-year gap between seasons 1 and 2, a delay often compared to other Netflix hits like Stranger Things, which also faced long waits between seasons. Interestingly, while the Wednesday cast has been vocal about disliking that kind of gap, Stranger Things co-creator Matt Duffer once shared a very different perspective.

“I get fatigued watching 20-episode seasons. We didn’t grow up interested in any of that. We only watched movies. That’s the weird thing that we ended up in TV, because we had almost zero interest in television. If TV shows come out every year, it’s diminishing return. I like the buildup,” Duffer said.

While that might make sense creatively, most fans would probably disagree—and it seems Wednesday’s creators feel the same way. After all, the show is now working hard to avoid those long, frustrating waits that test viewer patience.

With Stranger Things ending after its fifth season, fans can at least look forward to Wednesday moving at a faster pace. If all goes as planned, we can expect Wednesday season 3 to arrive on Netflix about a year and a half from now.
