Money Heist might have ended, but its legacy continues to thrive through its hit spin-off, Berlin. The prequel series, starring Pedro Alonso as the enigmatic mastermind, gave fans a deeper look into one of the most fascinating characters in the Money Heist universe.
Following the success of the first season, which premiered on Netflix in December 2023, the streaming giant officially confirmed Berlin Season 2 in February 2024. Production kicked off on 23 January 2025, and now, an even more thrilling update has surfaced — The Professor is making a comeback.
What Is Berlin About?
Set against the romantic streets of Paris, the series takes viewers back to the so-called “golden age” of Berlin — long before the events of Money Heist. It follows the charismatic thief as he assembles a skilled team to pull off a daring heist at a prestigious Parisian auction house.
Packed with high-stakes action, clever schemes, and emotional depth, Berlin doesn’t just showcase the brilliance of the robberies — it also dives into the protagonist’s quest for love, revealing the complexities that make him such a compelling anti-hero.
The Cast of Berlin Season 2
Pedro Alonso returns as Berlin, joined once again by his crew — Tristán Ulloa as Damián, Michelle Jenner as Keila, Begoña Vargas as Cameron, Joel Sánchez as Bruce, and Julio Peña Fernández as Roi.
Season 2 introduces Inma Cuesta as Candela, José Luis García-Pérez as Duke Álvaro Hermoso de Medina, and Marta Nieto as Duchess Genoveva Dante.
But the biggest surprise is the return of Álvaro Morte as Sergio Marquina — better known as The Professor, Berlin’s younger brother and the mastermind behind the Money Heist operations.
Álvaro Morte on Returning as The Professor
Although The Professor’s screen time in Berlin Season 2 will be brief, fans are overjoyed to see him back in action.
Morte shared his enthusiasm about revisiting the role, saying:
“Returning as The Professor, even if it’s just for a very, very small part because it’s only a few scenes, it was something I really wanted to do, beyond just being with the crew again. Because it’s like a small gift we’re giving to everyone. To the followers, to the fans we’ve always had, and who have always shown us so much love.”
His words perfectly capture the nostalgia and excitement surrounding this crossover moment between Money Heist and Berlin.
What to Expect From the Plot of Berlin Season 2
Netflix has revealed that the second season will shift its focus to Spain, with the new heist unfolding in Seville. Filming has taken place across several Spanish cities, including Madrid, Seville, and San Sebastián.
The Season 1 finale teased Berlin and Damián planning another elaborate robbery, suggesting that the upcoming episodes could explore this daring scheme — or perhaps edge the story closer to the events of Money Heist.
