The next chapter of Outlander: Blood of My Blood has arrived, bringing the story of Jamie Fraser’s parents and Claire Fraser’s parents into a new season filled with separation, war and time travel.
The Outlander prequel, based on characters from Diana Gabaldon’s time-traveling novel series, follows two central couples: Brian and Ellen Fraser, played by Jamie Roy and Harriet Slater, who are the parents of Jamie Fraser (Sam Heughan), and Henry and Julia Beauchamp, played by Jeremy Irvine and Hermione Corfield, who are the parents of Claire Fraser (Caitríona Balfe).
Although the couples eventually reunite in 18th-century Scotland, their happiness does not last long. Season 2 premiered on September 18, and the story quickly sends the characters in different directions once again.
“In true Outlander style, they’re literally together for, like, two minutes, which is what they worked the whole of season 1 for: to be together, and to be free, and to be happy,” Slater told TVLine in September 2026. “They finally manage it, and then within a few minutes, they’re thrust apart again.”

When did Outlander: Blood of My Blood Season 2 premiere?
Outlander: Blood of My Blood Season 2 premiered on Friday, September 18, 2026, on Starz.
The second-season trailer shows Henry making it through the stone circle at Craigh Na Dun, only to find himself in shackles in a hospital bed in another era. Julia and their newborn son William, meanwhile, are left behind.
“Where we end up in season two, I would never have guessed,” Irvine told The Hollywood Reporter in October 2025 while filming the new season. “I went in for my costume fitting, and they showed me this costume, and I went, ‘Why the hell am I wearing that?’ And yeah, it is wild, man.”
Brian faces his own difficult path as he returns to Castle Leathers and fights for his future with Ellen.
“[He] knows he has a duty to do, a place to be, which is on the front lines of a war,” Roy explained to TVLine in September 2026. “But also, for the first time in his life, his heart has been opened up, and he’s finally been able to be with the one person who’s been able to see him, understand him.”
How many episodes are in Outlander: Blood of My Blood Season 2?
Season 2 will consist of 10 episodes, matching the episode count of the first season.
Season 1 ended on a major cliffhanger, leaving several important storylines unresolved.
“I felt like there was unfinished business at the end of season one. It’s been like, ‘Oh, we’re going to find each other,’ ” Irvine told The Hollywood Reporter in August 2026. “We finally find each other, and then the season ends.”
