The next chapter of Outlander: Blood of My Blood has officially arrived, bringing fans back into the sweeping love stories that connect two generations of the Fraser and Beauchamp families.
Based on Diana Gabaldon’s beloved Outlander novels, the prequel follows two central couples: Jamie Fraser’s parents, Brian and Ellen Fraser (Jamie Roy and Harriet Slater), and Claire Fraser’s parents, Henry and Julia Beauchamp (Jeremy Irvine and Hermione Corfield). After finally finding one another in 18th-century Scotland, both couples face new obstacles as season 2 begins.
Although the long-awaited reunions offered hope at the end of season 1, the new season quickly tears the characters apart once again.
“In true Outlander style, they’re literally together for, like, two minutes, which is what they worked the whole of season 1 for: to be together, and to be free, and to be happy,” Harriet Slater told TVLine in September 2026. “They finally manage it, and then within a few minutes, they’re thrust apart again.”
When did Outlander: Blood of My Blood season 2 premiere?
Season 2 premiered on Friday, Sept. 18, on Starz.
The newly released trailer reveals Henry successfully passing through the stone circle at Craigh Na Dun, only to awaken shackled to a hospital bed in another era. Meanwhile, Julia and their newborn son, William, are left behind, setting the stage for another emotional separation.
Jeremy Irvine admitted the new season takes the story in a direction he never expected.
“Where we end up in season two, I would never have guessed,” Irvine told The Hollywood Reporter during a break from filming in October 2025. “I went in for my costume fitting, and they showed me this costume, and I went, ‘Why the hell am I wearing that?’ And yeah, it is wild, man.”
Brian Fraser also faces a difficult path ahead as he returns to Castle Leathers to fight for both his future and Ellen’s.
“[He] knows he has a duty to do, a place to be, which is on the front lines of a war,” Jamie Roy explained to TVLine in September 2026. “But also, for the first time in his life, his heart has been opened up, and he’s finally been able to be with the one person who’s been able to see him, understand him.”
How many episodes are in season 2?
Like the first installment, season 2 consists of 10 episodes.
The debut season concluded with a dramatic cliffhanger, leaving viewers eager to see how the story continues.
“I felt like there was unfinished business at the end of season one. It’s been like, ‘Oh, we’re going to find each other,’ ” Irvine told The Hollywood Reporter in August 2026. “We finally find each other, and then the season ends.”
