Outlander: Blood of My Blood Season 2 Gets Release Date — and the First Teaser Is Heartbreaking

Outlander: Blood of My Blood fans won’t have to wait much longer to return to the Fraser and Beauchamp family stories. Starz has officially announced that Season 2 will premiere on September 18, while also unveiling the first teaser for the highly anticipated next chapter.

The emotional preview picks up immediately after the dramatic events of Season 1, which followed the love stories of Claire and Jamie’s parents across two different eras. While the first season ended with hopeful reunions and hard-won victories, the new footage suggests that peace may be short-lived.

According to Starz, Season 2 begins after Henry Beauchamp (Jeremy Irvine) and Julia Beauchamp (Hermione Corfield) finally reunited at the standing stones of Craigh na Dun following an unexpected journey through time. Their goal was simple: return home to their young daughter, Claire.

But the teaser reveals a devastating twist.

The official synopsis states that the new season opens with “a distraught Julia alone with their baby.” Meanwhile, Henry finds himself separated from the woman he loves once again.

“Separated from his love and hope, Henry must grapple with his mental health, as he fights to find his way back to her,” the description reveals.

The Fraser family storyline is also set to face new challenges. During Season 1, Brian Fraser (Jamie Roy) and Ellen MacKenzie (Harriet Slater) risked everything for their forbidden romance, ultimately choosing each other over their families. However, their future is thrown into uncertainty as the 1715 Jacobite Rising erupts.

Starz teases that their brief romantic escape comes to an abrupt end when “fiery crosses were lit and the 1715 Jacobite Rising began, thrusting the clans into war.”

The conflict forces both characters into difficult positions. Brian must honor his duty to fight, while Ellen attempts to repair her fractured relationship with her family.

Season 2 will once again star Jeremy Irvine, Hermione Corfield, Jamie Roy, and Harriet Slater. Returning cast members also include Tony Curran as Simon Fraser, Lord Lovat, Séamus McLean Ross as Colum MacKenzie, Sam Retford as Dougal MacKenzie, Rory Alexander as Murtagh Fitzgibbons Fraser, and Conor MacNeill as Ned Gowan.

The prequel continues to be overseen by Matthew B. Roberts, who serves as showrunner for both Outlander and Outlander: Blood of My Blood. Roberts executive produces alongside Ronald D. Moore, Maril Davis, Toni Graphia, Luke Schelhaas, Michael Wilson, Jim Kohlberg, and Luke Parker Bowles. The series is produced by Sony Pictures Television.

With a release date now confirmed and the first footage teasing heartbreak, separation, and war, Outlander: Blood of My Blood appears ready to raise the emotional stakes even higher when it returns this fall.
