After five seasons of chaos, bloodshed, and unforgettable rivalries, The Boys finally delivered the showdown fans had been waiting for. The series finale turns the White House into a battlefield as Butcher, Hughie, Annie, Kimiko, and the rest of the team make one last attempt to stop Homelander before he pushes the country past the point of no return.
The episode is packed with shocking twists, emotional farewells, and several major deaths that permanently change the world of The Boys.
Warning: Major spoilers ahead for the series finale of The Boys.
The Gen V Heroes Survive the Finale
Before the final battle begins, Marie Moreau, Emma Meyer, and Jordan Li return to help the Boys. Fans hoping to see Marie go head-to-head with Homelander might be disappointed, but Annie instead sends the young heroes on a mission to help evacuate loyalists across the Canadian border.
The trio never joins the climactic fight, meaning they survive the finale.
Marie and Annie also share a heartfelt goodbye, reflecting on heroes, expectations, and everything they’ve learned along the way.
Sage Walks Away From Homelander
One character who surprisingly makes it out alive is Sage.
After helping the Boys confirm that Kimiko’s dangerous new ability is working as intended, Sage decides she has had enough of Homelander and his increasingly unstable plans.
Rather than risking her life in the White House battle, she chooses something far less stressful: a trip to Universal Studios.
“Wands up, b**ches! Sage out!”
For perhaps the first time in her life, Sage chooses peace over power.
Oh Father Meets a Brutal End
The first major death comes when Oh Father tracks down the Boys inside the White House.
As tensions rise, he prepares to unleash his devastating sonic scream. Before he can attack, Mother’s Milk manages to force a ball gag into his mouth, trapping the blast inside his own body.
The result is exactly as gruesome as fans would expect from The Boys.
Oh Father’s head explodes instantly.
The Deep Finally Faces Consequences
For years, The Deep managed to survive despite constantly making terrible decisions.
His luck finally runs out in the finale.
Locked in a brutal fight with Annie, he refuses every opportunity to change sides or take responsibility for his actions. Annie ultimately blasts him into the ocean, where an army of furious sea creatures is waiting.
After being attacked by the marine life he once claimed to protect, The Deep is impaled by a tentacle and dragged beneath the water, ending one of the show’s longest-running storylines.
Homelander’s Reign Finally Ends
The centerpiece of the finale is the long-awaited confrontation between Homelander and Butcher.
Ryan plays a key role before the fight even begins, making it clear he wants nothing to do with his father’s vision for the future.
“I am nothing like you.”
The battle tears through the Oval Office as Homelander, Butcher, Ryan, and Kimiko clash in the final conflict of the series.
Kimiko initially struggles to unlock her full strength, but a vision of Frenchie helps her realize that rage isn’t what defines her power. Once she embraces that truth, she unleashes a devastating blast that changes the course of the fight.
With Homelander weakened and stripped of his usual advantages, the confrontation becomes deeply personal. For the first time, Homelander is forced to face his own mortality.
The once-invincible Supe eventually begs for mercy.
He doesn’t get it.
After years of hatred, loss, and obsession, Butcher kills Homelander by driving a crowbar through his head, ending their war once and for all.
Butcher Doesn’t Survive Either
Homelander’s death isn’t the final tragedy.
Still determined to eliminate every Supe, Butcher attempts to release the Godolkin Virus through Vought’s headquarters. Hughie races to stop him, hoping to reach the humanity still buried beneath his anger.
The confrontation quickly turns violent.
Just as Butcher prepares to carry out his plan, a vision from his childhood causes him to hesitate. Hughie takes advantage of the moment and shoots him.
Mortally wounded, Butcher finally accepts what happened. Rather than blaming Hughie, he forgives him and acknowledges that there was no other choice.
Later, Butcher is buried beside Becca, fulfilling the wish he carried for years.
Ashley Somehow Survives Everything
Despite secretly helping the Boys overthrow Homelander, Ashley avoids death entirely.
Following the destruction of Homelander’s administration, she immediately attempts to hold onto power and declares she has no intention of resigning.
Her political future doesn’t last long, however, as Congress quickly moves to impeach her.
Still, in a finale filled with bodies, simply surviving is a victory.
Mother’s Milk and Kimiko Get New Beginnings
Once the fighting ends, the finale jumps forward to show where the surviving characters end up.
Mother’s Milk finally leaves his obsession with Supes behind and reunites with Monique. The two remarry, with Ryan and Janine standing beside them.
Kimiko begins a new life in France, fulfilling a dream she once shared with Frenchie. Although she still feels his absence, she appears ready to move forward and build a future for herself.
Hughie and Annie Get a Hopeful Ending
The final scenes belong to Hughie and Annie.
Bob Singer, now President of the United States, offers Hughie a leadership position in the newly restored Bureau of Supe Affairs. Hughie declines, choosing a quieter life instead.
Together, he and Annie run Campbell Audio and Video.
The biggest surprise comes in the closing moments: Annie is pregnant, and the couple plans to name their daughter Robin.
As Billy Joel’s “Piano Man” plays, The Boys closes on something that once seemed impossible for this universe — hope.
