Jenna Ortega’s Wednesday Season 2 arrived with plenty of noise and anticipation but quickly lost some of its charm, unlike the first season, which roared onto screens, impressed viewers, and sparked widespread buzz.
Even before the fate of Season 2 was fully revealed, Netflix had already greenlit Season 3. Fans can expect the next chapter to dig deeper into the stories of Nevermore Academy and the Addams family. Ortega herself has shared her ideas for where the show could go. According to her, and very much in line with Wednesday’s character, the new season should lean toward a darker, more complex version of Wednesday. She also hopes to explore a stronger bond between her character and Morticia.
Speaking to GamesRadar+ in Los Angeles, Jenna revealed her thoughts. She said, “I would like them [Morticia and Wednesday] to stop arguing and team up. We’d just been talking about women banding together, and you see that a bit in the final episode, or episodes. I think we should lean into that. It’s really exciting and refreshing to see women displayed that way.”
Ortega went on to share, “I think it’s important to see Wednesday deal with the darker side of herself a little bit, too – but also never taking things too seriously. And I would like to see more death attempts between her and Pugsley. She doesn’t try to kill him enough! I want to see stuff like that.”
These ideas are likely to add intriguing layers to the upcoming season, but their impact will depend on how quickly Netflix can move forward with production. One challenge the show has faced is the long gaps between seasons, which has contributed to waning excitement and fans losing interest in what comes next for Wednesday.
Season 3 is expected to begin filming very soon, with rumored release dates in 2027.
