In this last chapter, the network teases a bittersweet journey for Claire (Caitríona Balfe) and Jamie (Sam Heughan), whose love story has captivated audiences for nearly a decade. According to Starz, fans “can anticipate tender romance and the edge-of-your-seat drama Outlander fans have come to cherish over the past eight seasons, as the celebrated and genre-defining series approaches its epic conclusion.”

Based on Diana Gabaldon’s bestselling novels, Outlander left off in Season 7 amid the chaos of the American Revolution. Jamie made the life-changing decision to resign his commission in the Continental Army and return home to Fraser’s Ridge with Claire. The season also delivered an emotional family reunion for the MacKenzies, who were left facing difficult choices about where—and when—to settle next. The finale’s cliffhanger left fans questioning the true fate of Claire and Jamie’s first daughter, Faith.

As Season 8 begins, the Frasers return to Fraser’s Ridge, now a thriving community transformed in their absence. But peace proves elusive. The war may be over, yet its shadows linger as new arrivals and long-buried secrets threaten to disrupt their lives once more. The Frasers must decide what they are willing to sacrifice for their home—and for each other. Though they’ve left the fight for America’s freedom behind, their battle for Fraser’s Ridge is only just beginning.

The ensemble cast also includes Sophie Skelton as Brianna MacKenzie, Richard Rankin as Roger MacKenzie, John Bell as Young Ian Murray, David Berry as Lord John Grey, Charles Vandervaart as William Ransom, and Izzy Meikle-Small as Rachel Murray.

Behind the scenes, Outlander continues to be steered by a powerhouse team of executive producers: Matthew B. Roberts, Ronald D. Moore, Maril Davis, Toni Graphia, Luke Schelhaas, Andy Harries, Jim Kohlberg, Caitríona Balfe, and Sam Heughan. The series is produced by Sony Pictures Television.

Fans can also explore the Outlander universe through the prequel series Outlander: Blood of My Blood, which premiered in August and is now streaming on the Starz app. The prequel chronicles the romance between Ellen MacKenzie (Harriet Slater) and Brian Fraser (Jamie Roy)—the parents of Jamie Fraser—and Julia Moriston (Hermione Corfield) and Henry Beauchamp (Jeremy Irvine), the parents of Claire Fraser.

The prequel also features Tony Curran as Simon Fraser, Lord Lovat, Séamus McLean Ross as Colum MacKenzie, Sam Retford as Dougal MacKenzie, Rory Alexander as Murtagh Fitzgibbons Fraser, and Conor MacNeill as Ned Gowan.
