Six years after Supernatural ended, its biggest stars are finally sharing the screen again — but this time in the chaotic world of The Boys.
The upcoming fifth and final season of the Prime Video hit will feature a reunion between Jensen Ackles, Jared Padalecki, and Misha Collins, bringing the former Winchester brothers and Castiel back together under showrunner Eric Kripke, who created both series.
Fans recently got their first real glimpse of the reunion in the official trailer for The Boys Season 5. The preview shows Ackles’ Soldier Boy violently roughing up a new character played by Collins, while Padalecki’s character watches in horror. While the casting news first broke in February 2025, seeing the trio together on screen has made the crossover feel far more real.
For Ackles, returning to work with his longtime co-stars was exciting — but also a little nerve-racking.
“This was a world that I was nervous coming into being such a fan of the show, and I felt like I had kind of settled in,” Ackles explained in an interview with TVLine. “And then here these guys come. So I was nervous for them. … I was really rooting for them, as I think we do in real life.”
Fortunately, those concerns quickly disappeared once filming began.
“They both did great. I was super happy with what their experience was, and what mine was with them on the set. It was a lot of fun… and probably too much fun,” Ackles said. “They were probably wondering how we got 15 seasons [of ‘Supernatural’] with the three of us just being idiots.”
While Ackles is keeping most details about the scene under wraps, he did offer one big hint about what fans should expect when the trio finally collide in the story.
“I don’t think I can say anything about why the scene happened,” Ackles teased. “But I will say that it’s an episode that is … definitely one to to keep a lookout for, because the whole sequence is bananas.”
Even though Supernatural ended in 2020, Ackles says working together again felt surprisingly natural. The actors have remained close over the years, regularly appearing together at conventions and staying in touch outside of work.
“We still see each other quite a bit and talk all the time, and we’re still very much a part of each other’s lives, so it didn’t feel like much time had passed,” Ackles said. “It just felt like we were back together again doing what we do.”
The long-awaited reunion will unfold when The Boys returns for its fifth and final season on April 8, kicking off with a two-episode premiere. New episodes will then stream weekly on Wednesdays on Prime Video.
For fans who spent 15 seasons watching the Winchesters hunt monsters, the idea of seeing Ackles, Padalecki, and Collins reunited — this time in one of television’s most brutal superhero worlds — is already shaping up to be one of the most anticipated moments of the show’s final run.
