Fans are revisiting a deeply emotional moment after the passing of Eric Dane, and it’s leaving many heartbroken.
The Grey’s Anatomy star passed away at the age of 53 on February 19. Now, an old interview between Dane and his Countdown co-star Jensen Ackles is resurfacing online — and fans say it feels even more painful to watch today.
A Conversation Full of Respect and Admiration
The video, shared by One Take News on Instagram and TikTok, shows both actors speaking warmly about one another and their experience working together. At the time, neither could have known how final those words would one day feel.
Speaking about Ackles, Dane said:
“Jensen’s a terrific example of a human being, and I love him dearly, but what I admire most about him is his work ethic. He is a machine. He is as consistent as it gets, and the continuity of his performance throughout all 13 episodes is pretty remarkable.”
Ackles responded with equal admiration, praising Dane’s leadership style:
“There’s a lot that I can say, but one of the things is the way that he leads quietly. I think a lot of people feel like they have to be boisterous, and they have to be loud, and they have to kind of dictate more of a leadership quality, but he has just this beautiful, quiet way of setting a great tone and setting a great example of how to be a pro.”
He continued:
“You know, I was definitely taking notes from just the way he handles himself on set or the way he handles himself off set. When the cameras are rolling, when they’re not rolling, there was just this beautiful leadership quality to him that was quiet that everybody noticed and picked up on. And I think it really benefitted the show in a way that you don’t get from a lot of people.”
