More cameos from Supernatural actors have been confirmed for The Boys season 5, following the casting of Jared Padalecki and Misha Collins in undisclosed roles. Series creator Eric Kripke continues bringing familiar faces from his former hit show into the violent world of Prime Video’s superhero satire.
During The Boys panel at Fan Expo San Francisco, moderated by ScreenRant’s Joe Deckelmeier, Karl Urban revealed that even more Supernatural actors are on the way. The actor, who plays Billy Butcher, teased that fans should be ready for surprises in the final season.
“We can say, obviously, Jensen [Ackles] it was great to have him back. And it was fun to sort of get the opportunity to have the Supernatural guys sort of roll through and do their thing,” Urban said. “And there’s going to be a few great cameos that I don’t even think have been announced yet. So yeah, it was fun.”
Urban also praised Kripke’s collaborative approach behind the scenes. “We’re all very grateful, and I think [Eric] Kripke is, he’s a wonderful collaborator to work with. And if he likes working with you, then he will go out of his way to find an opportunity to work with you again. And I guess, you know, we all feel part of that big family.”
The Boys has already welcomed a long list of Supernatural alumni. Jensen Ackles made a major impact as Soldier Boy, while Jeffrey Dean Morgan appeared as Joe Kessler. The pair previously portrayed Dean Winchester and his father, John, on Supernatural. Other familiar performers include Nathan Mitchell (Black Noir) and Christian Keyes (Nathan Franklin).
While Urban didn’t reveal which actors might join next, the story heading into season 5 offers plenty of opportunities. Season 4 ended with every member of the Boys captured by Vought except Starlight and A-Train. Supes have declared martial law, and Homelander has taken control of key branches of the U.S. government.
With Supes now holding more power than ever, season 5 can introduce new superpowered threats as the team tries to regroup and take Homelander down for good. There is also room for new human characters, especially as tensions rise and the world fractures under Supe rule.
Padalecki and Collins’ mystery roles may only be the beginning. Even though season 5 marks the end of the original series, the universe is expanding with new stories like The Boys: Mexico and Vought Rising. Kripke’s continued use of Supernatural actors hints at a finale designed to satisfy longtime fans.
With Urban confirming multiple cameos that have yet to be announced, season 5 is shaping up to deliver one of the most star-packed chapters of The Boys yet. How these returning faces will impact the overarching plot remains a mystery, but there’s plenty of space for memorable appearances.
The Boys season 5 arrives on Prime Video in 2026.
