It’s been a roller coaster of a week for Supernatural fans. First came the news that all 15 seasons of the beloved CW series would be leaving Netflix. Then came the reveal that the demon-hunting Winchester brothers would be heading not just to Prime Video but also to Peacock starting in December. Now, fans are getting even more surprising news: Sam and Dean are returning for a holiday special — though not in the form most viewers imagined.
Arriving on February 4, 2026, from Dynamite Entertainment, the Supernatural adventure will continue in comic book form with a Valentine-themed holiday special. This new story puts the Winchesters up against something arguably more terrifying than demons or death itself: love, and what love can push a person to do. The special is written by Preeti Chhibber with art by Pasquale Qualano.
According to the official description of Supernatural Valentine Day Special 2026 #1, the brothers will encounter someone attempting to resurrect a lost loved one. Anyone familiar with the series knows that meddling with death is never a good idea. While the upcoming holiday special is exciting, what might be even more thrilling for fans is that Supernatural is already continuing through Dynamite’s ongoing comic series. Debuting on October 29th from writer Greg Pak and artist Eder Messias, the series returns to the beloved “Monster of the Week” formula that defined the early seasons. Although it’s described as being set between Seasons 1 and 2, it actually functions as part of Season 1 — something highlighted by a comment about the brothers not knowing where their father is, even though he dies at the start of Season 2.
Since Season 1 is widely considered one of the strongest eras of Supernatural, the comic’s tone and energy feel true to what fans loved most. That bodes well not only for the ongoing series but also for the upcoming Valentine’s special.
