Tom Ellis Returns as Colin Glass in ‘CIA’ Season 2 as CBS Reveals New Details
Tom Ellis has become one of television’s most recognizable faces, thanks largely to his unforgettable performance as Lucifer Morningstar in the hit urban fantasy series Lucifer. However, his journey to becoming a fan-favorite star began years earlier with his breakout role in the BBC One sitcom Miranda.
While U.S. audiences first got a glimpse of Ellis when he appeared as Robin Hood in an episode of ABC’s Once Upon a Time, it was his portrayal of Lucifer that truly made him a global name. The DC-inspired series ran for six seasons across Fox and Netflix before concluding in 2021, turning Ellis into a pop culture icon.
After saying goodbye to Lucifer, Ellis quickly returned to network television. Last year, he joined the expanding FBI universe with CBS’ spy-focused spin-off CIA, where he plays the unpredictable and quick-thinking CIA agent Colin Glass.

Despite those challenges, CIA premiered strongly with 8.4 million viewers and was renewed for Season 2 after only five episodes.
Under showrunner Mike Weiss, the series follows the unlikely partnership between FBI Agent Bill Goodman (Nick Gehlfuss) and CIA agent Colin Glass as they work together on a joint task force. ‘CIA’ Season 2 Episode 2 Reveals Colin and Bill’s Dangerous New Mission
CBS has released the official storyline and new images for Season 2, Episode 2, titled “Dead Drop,” teasing another dangerous mission for Bill and Colin.
The episode will introduce a Russian spy named Viktor Molotov, played by Gene Farber, who finds himself betrayed by his own allies after being poisoned. With his life coming to an end, Viktor offers the agents valuable information that could help them eliminate a major threat to U.S. assets.
However, his assistance comes with a condition. In exchange for his information, Bill and Colin must help him complete his final mission: getting revenge against those responsible for his downfall.
Following Viktor’s intelligence will not be easy, and new images suggest the operation quickly becomes dangerous. One scene shows Colin and CIA analyst Gina Gosian (Natalee Linez) hiding behind a vehicle, attempting to stay out of sight while carrying out the mission.
Season 2, Episode 2 of CIA, titled “Dead Drop,” will premiere on Monday, October 12.
‘CIA’ Season 2 Begins With Another ‘FBI’ Crossover Event
Similar to the show’s first season, the second season of CIA will begin with another crossover connected to the wider FBI universe.
During the premiere episode, the team will receive assistance from John Boyd’s FBI Special Agent Stuart Scola during a high-pressure operation targeting a cartel fixer in New York City.
The case becomes far more complicated after investigators discover the body of a DEA agent connected to the criminal operation. What begins as a mission to stop one threat quickly turns into a race against time to prevent additional high-profile murders.
The premiere will also mark the return of Colin and Bill’s partnership after Bill temporarily stepped away from his work following the death of his father. However, his return will bring a shocking discovery that could have major consequences for the future of the series.
With Tom Ellis continuing to lead the cast as Colin Glass, CIA Season 2 looks set to expand the action, espionage, and unexpected partnership that made the first season a success.
