Reacher isn’t slowing down anytime soon. While production on season five is already underway in Toronto, Amazon MGM Studios has officially renewed the hit Prime Video series for a sixth season, giving fans even more to look forward to.
The action drama first premiered in 2022 and is based on Lee Child’s bestselling Jack Reacher novels. Alan Ritchson stars as the retired military police officer, a relentless investigator who travels from town to town solving crimes and delivering justice.
The series has become one of Amazon’s biggest television successes. According to Variety, season four, which premiered on August 12, has attracted 66 million viewers worldwide since its debut. Following the season four finale on September 16, Amazon wasted little time confirming that Reacher will return for another chapter.
“Reacher hits hard,” said Peter Friedlander, head of global television for Amazon MGM Studios. “What Lee Child has built and Nick Santora and his creative teams have brought to life is, simply, incredible.”
He continued: “Alan Ritchson is Jack Reacher – he’s delivered a performance that has captivated audiences around the world.”
Looking ahead to the newly announced season, Friedlander added: “Together with our partners at Paramount Television Studios, we couldn’t be more excited to continue this journey. Reacher is a truly iconic series, and we’re thrilled to be on the ride with this extraordinary cast and crew for Season Six.”
Before season six arrives, viewers can expect season five, which adapts Child’s 2015 novel Make Me, the 20th book in the Jack Reacher series. The story follows Reacher after he makes a stop in the mysterious town of Mother’s Rest, where what begins as a brief visit quickly turns into something much bigger.
The official logline for the novel reads: “Reacher’s one-day stopover turns into an open-ended quest leading to the most hidden reaches of the internet, and right into the nightmare heart of darkness.”
Previously discussing season five in a statement to Deadline, Friedlander praised the continued success of the franchise, saying: “From Lee Child’s globally beloved novels to its standout on-screen adaptation, Reacher has evolved into a true powerhouse franchise.
“The series’ ability to combine high-octane action with compelling character storytelling continues to resonate with tens of millions of viewers around the world. We’re excited to move forward with a fifth season ahead of Season Four’s debut and to build on this incredible momentum.”
