Outlander Fans Get Big Update as Blood of My Blood Season 2 Wraps

Outlander fans finally have a meaningful update on the future of the franchise. STARZ has officially confirmed that Season 2 of Outlander: Blood of My Blood has wrapped production — a milestone that brings the prequel one step closer to its return.

The news signals that a potential release window is now coming into focus, even if an official premiere date hasn’t been announced just yet.

The update was shared through STARZ’s official Instagram account, where the network posted behind-the-scenes photos from the set to celebrate the end of filming. Production on the second season began over the summer, following an early renewal that arrived even before Season 1 premiered — a clear sign of the network’s confidence in the spinoff.

With filming now complete, Blood of My Blood moves into post-production. Based on typical television timelines, post-production often takes roughly the same amount of time as principal photography. Since Season 2 reportedly spent around six months in production, this has fueled fan speculation that the series could be ready to premiere as early as June 2026.

That said, STARZ has not confirmed any release window, and no official premiere date has been announced at the time of publication.

Scheduling within the broader Outlander universe could also influence the timeline. With Outlander Season 8 set to premiere in March 2026, the network may choose to leave some breathing room between the end of the flagship series and the return of its prequel. STARZ has also previously held completed projects longer than expected, which means the wait could stretch beyond early estimates.

Outlander: Blood of My Blood serves as a prequel to the original series, exploring the lives and romances of Claire Fraser’s parents and Jamie Fraser’s parents. The storylines begin in separate time periods before eventually intersecting through time travel, expanding the mythology of the franchise while telling a story that stands on its own.

Season 1 of Outlander: Blood of My Blood is currently streaming on STARZ. With Season 2 now fully filmed, fans can officially begin the countdown — even if the exact date remains just out of reach.
