Peaky Blinders Movie “The Immortal Man” Confirms Release Date, Cast and New Story Details

The long-awaited Peaky Blinders movie The Immortal Man has finally confirmed its release date, along with new plot details. The “epic” film marks Cillian Murphy’s return as Tommy Shelby after the main series wrapped in 2022, giving fans the continuation they’ve been waiting for.

Viewers now know exactly when they’ll be able to watch it. The movie will have a limited cinema release on 6 March next year, before arriving on Netflix on 20 March. Teased as an “epic continuation of the multi-award-winning, six-season gangster saga”, the story picks up with Tommy emerging from exile to confront both his past and the shadows that still haunt him.

“Birmingham, 1940. Amidst the chaos of WWII, Tommy Shelby is driven back from a self-imposed exile to face his most destructive reckoning yet,” the official synopsis reveals. “With the future of the family and the country at stake, Tommy must face his own demons, and choose whether to confront his legacy, or burn it to the ground. By order of the Peaky Blinders…”

Series creator Steven Knight returns to write the screenplay, while familiar faces such as Stephen Graham, Ned Dennehy, Sophie Rundle, Ian Peck and Packy Lee are all set to reprise their roles. New additions to the cast include Rebecca Ferguson, Tim Roth and Jay Lycurgo, joining the ensemble for this next chapter.

Murphy recently explained why he felt compelled to return to the world of Peaky Blinders, telling The Observer: “We got a really good script, and I have a sense of duty to the fans because, in many ways, they made the show the success that it is. It’s a proper bookend to the whole 36 hours of television.”

Fans will also have even more to look forward to once the movie arrives. The BBC has confirmed two new series that will explore a fresh generation of Shelbys as the saga continues to expand.

“In a new era of Steven Knight’s Peaky Blinders, the race to own Birmingham’s massive reconstruction project becomes a brutal contest of mythical dimensions,” a synopsis for the upcoming shows teases. “This is a city of unprecedented opportunity and danger: with the Shelby family right at its blood-soaked heart.”
